Instructions to Build Kitchen Cabinets
Most all homeowners at one time or another, decide that it is time to give the kitchen in their home a face lift. If you have ever looked into buying kitchen cabinets, appliances, and new counters, you thought the sales guy sitting in your front room was kidding at first, didn’t you? Once you realized that the $30,000 figure he gave you was serious, (and he thought it was a deal) you began to think of other options, right?
Granted, there are plenty of options. You can really save some serious money by building your own kitchen cabinets. It is not nearly as hard as you are thinking, and if you are any sort of a weekend handyman, you should be able to do this. It just requires little patients and a few tools.

The very first thing you will want to do is get very organized. You can start with your thoughts on how you want the finished product to look. You can gather all your ideas from your head and by looking at kitchen displays at the lumber supply store. You can also see your hardware choices while you are looking.
You will want to put most of the importance at first on tools. You will need the right tools to do a good job. Make a list and do not scrimp on price, you get what you pay for in tools.
You can get information and help with this project in a couple ways, one way is to go to your local home improvement store and go to one of the 1 or 2 hour workshops. I know a couple of home improvement centers that offer these kinds of classes on Saturdays. The other way is to buy a good book on the subject of How to build kitchen cabinets. Some stores offer their own line of How-to Books among many others on the subject.
At the workshops, you will want to pay close attention as you can learn quite a few tricks and short cuts to do this job. When you use a book, make sure you follow the instructions very closely. Just pay attention, watch for detail, and you will be home free. Take your sweet time and make sure you are precise, if you are off a little on one part that can equate to a lot on the other end of the counter.
When it comes time to put the cabinets together, you should already have your hardware, if you don’t, stop and wait until you have it all. Like I said, you should have purchased and ordered this first. You can also stain or paint before you put the parts together, this will make that job a lot easier. When you are done with the stain, do not forget to spray a thin layer of polyurethane over the finished product to make it look good.
