Often, the roofers require the assistance of other associated equipments or devices besides the common roofing tools. One such equipment is the roof bracket. Roof brackets are small-sized roofing equipments that are employed to fulfill the role of scaffolding. The good thing about the utilization of the roof brackets is that they can be easily installed and removed without leaving any marks of the installation setup.

It is very important to install the roof brackets in a proper way. Improper installation may lead to an accident during the course of action. Faulty installation of the roof brackets would exert excess pressure on the jacks of the setup and consequently, the brackets would collapse leading to the fall down of the workers or the supplies stationed on the brackets.

Loosely installed jacks would fail to carry the excess weight of the workers and the roofing supplies and hence, would lead to a sudden collapse. This is one reason why a plenty of experts avoid the usage of roofing brackets or jacks on multi-floor buildings and high-pitched roofs. The level of damage would be wider in case of multi-floor buildings or high-sloped roofs.

Ground a ladder firmly on the floor and rest it against the outside wall. Make sure that the ladder is extended so as to reach out to the edges of the roof. The base of the roof brackets or jacks must be installed at the edges of the roof. The roof rafters located in the internal structure of the edges form the platform for the installation of these brackets. Abide by the expert’s specifications while placing the brackets into the rafters. Instead of nailing down the brackets in a lateral way, drive the nails directly into the rafters.

Once the base of the jack is nailed to the rafter along the roof edges, move to the shingled area of the roof. Pry up the shingles with the help of a roofing pry bar and slip in the business-end of the jack under the shingle. Similarly, install another roof jack such that there are two roof brackets installed on the roof. Make sure that the bottom edge of the rafter is clearly visible along the edge of the roof.

Install 16-penny roofing nails into the slots of the roofing brackets to finish off the task.

The nails must make a contact with the underlying roof rafters as well.

Keep the assistance of an expert roofer at your disposal throughout the length of the project.
