It is very important to follow all the safety precautions while interacting with the wires of the electrical setup. The installation of a house circuit panel is one such task that asks you to handle the wiring of the concerned segment.

Before moving ahead with the proceedings, shut off the main switch. To do so, locate the electrical breaker box or the electric fuse of the electrical setup. Usually, the electrical breaker box is located either on the sidewalk or in the basement of the house. Move into the home to confirm the absence of electricity. Alternatively, you can use a voltage tester to confirm the same.

Next, open the knockouts on the side of the breaker panel to complement the new connections. Make sure that the number of knockout holes opened matches the number of connections to be made. Furthermore, bind the holes with the help of cable clamps and push the wire into the service panel through these clamps.

Push the entire length of wire into the panel box such that the connected end of the wire is visible only. Locate the grounding bus bar and attach the ground wire or the earth wire to the side of the bar.

Take the white circuit wire in your hand and strip some insulation off its tip. Make sure that you don’t damage the composition of the wire while striping the end. Screw the stripped end to the terminal of the neutral bus bar. Tighten the fixture using a screwdriver of appropriate size.

Similarly, tear off some insulation from the tip of the black circuit wire. Attach the stripped black end to a vacant single pole circuit breaker. Tighten the screws in the same manner as in the case of white wire.

Finish off the task by pushing one end of the new panel into a hook. The hook lies next to the bus bar. Sometimes the wire may not find an easy passage into the hook. Hence, keep pushing the wire until it accommodates in the panel.
