Lighting whether it is indoors or outdoors or for commercial purposes or for landscaping always manages to leave an indelible impression in our psyche, whenever we see lights we feel comfortable perhaps because it is a sign that people are around. Watching beautiful lights illuminating the dark is a welcome sight. Lights have a comforting effect whether it is indoor lights or outdoor lighting.

If you love entertaining and frequently call guests for parties whether it is indoors or outdoors, lighting makes them feel welcome. A well lighted house is a sign of festivities. Use suitable lights for the living room, the study, kitchen, passage, bathroom and the bedroom. None of these should be neglected as a well lit house spells comfort.

Indoor Lighting

People no longer prefer the traditional lighting options that need to be changed every year and consume huge amounts of electricity where lighting up the house means huge electricity bills. People now prefer options that save electricity that means they are cost effective, last longer and are environment friendly so a total win-win formula. CFL bulbs and LED lights are two options that are being increasingly preferred by people.

Before you set out to light up your house make a plan. Getting a false ceiling in the living room is a great option, you could make use of CFL bulbs that could be fitted in the room and that would create a mesmerizing effect. The centre of the ceiling could be fitted with a deer antler chandelier to give a magical effect. You could light up all the lights or make use of a few for diffused lighting.

The walls of the living room could be adorned with a painting, a mural or even a wall rug. Some interesting masks would also make a great conversation piece.

Moving to the kitchen it should not be neglected and this is not a place for muted lights, the kitchen top should be brightly lit so also the oven.

For the passage leading up to the bathroom or the bedroom using recessed lights is a good idea. Recessed light will give out just the right amount of light to light up the passage as the passage need not be overly bright. For the bathroom too recessed lights are a great choice particularly for the shower area and the vanities.

The bedroom is one place that needs a relaxed environment and diffused light would provide the right ambience for this room. Avoid using your laptop or the TV in this room and make sure that the setting is absolutely soothing for your tired nerves.
