How You Can Maintain Your Air Compressor
Any Machine is worth only if it works properly, compressors are no exception to this rule; we can put them to effective use if we they are maintained and kept in good working condition.
In this article we will highlight some basic but effective tools to keep your compressor well maintained so that they perform their job most diligently for a long time to come. The most basic and foremost advise would be ensuring that you drain water from your compressor every time you bring it to use. You will usually find a valve more typically on bottom side of a compressor which will help you easily drain the water. If followed regularly this process will not allow the water to accumulate inside the tank and protect the machine body from any rust formation on its inner surface. Not only this if water level goes beyond a certain limit inside the compressor tank, it will not leave enough room for air to pass hence leading to pressure loss.
The other important maintenance advice would be to take care of the environment where the air compressor is kept. A clean, warm and dry environment is best suited for a compressor to work properly. Minimum dust around the air compressor will prevent any unwanted particles making their way into the machine through its valves or gaskets and cause problems. Thus you are advised to wipe out dust or dirty areas on the tank every now and then. Warm and Dry environment around the machine would prevent moisture from seeping in to values. In case your air compressor is kept in low temperatures and not working properly try bringing it inside to warm it up for a while before putting it to use again.
Word of caution for the places where there is electricity problem NEVER EVEN RUN AN AIR COMPRESSOR OFF A GENERATOR. Usually when we run compressor through normal electricity it demands and consumes some extra power load at start up. This extra power can be easily provided through a normal electricity connection but not by a generator set. If your air compressor is denied this extra start up power it could cause some serious damage to its motors. Therefore every time you try and run compressor off a generator the motor wears down a little and if we continue doing the same repeatedly it will lead to permanent damage of the air compressor motor.
Last but not the least compressor users need to be vigilant to the leaks. We need to ascertain if the leaks are from the value or the tank body. Often it is observed that people would just rush for a value change in case they observe any leaks. This may not be the best thing to do. Next time we observe a leak just give it some extra time and closely monitor whether it is off the value or the tank.
Hope you would find the above tips as useful and it will help you maintain and reap longer benefits from your compressor sets.
