Decorating Fun: Preparing Your Child’s Playroom
If you have a room to spare, it is time to give your toddler a playroom. It can be an extra bedroom, a basement room or an attic room. With the decorating ideas in this article, your child’s playroom will be a lot of fun regardless of where in your house it is situated.
The playroom must be safe, fun and cozy. Once you have chosen your perfect spot, the decor can be a lot of fun. The first thing is to make sure the room is secured and child safe. The perfect room will have built-in storage that will need safety latches.

Painting the playroom is a super enjoyable task. Bright colors are ideal to give the room a cheery and happy ambiance. Your child will also prefer loud colors as opposed to dark tones. The more colorful, the happier the room will look.
By this time, your toddler may already have a few favorites. Why not incorporate the things that make him happy? A cartoon character or a picture of his favorite food and animal can do wonders for your child’s mood, especially if he gets to see it everyday. Add photos of other animals, shapes and other artworks to brighten up the playroom even more. Be generous with the use of colors. The more, the livelier!
Playing can be safer with a floor treatment. This will prevent slipping accidents. One solution is to use area rugs. They can be cushions for the floor and are also great decorative materials.
Placing an area rug at the center of the room looks good and protects well. Toddlers often run around but usually settles in the wider space. Have a large rug in the middle, and if the playroom still permits, have a smaller rug as a cushion for a piece of furniture. It can be for his table and chair, his train set or the storage cabinet.
Don’t limit yourself to only one area rug, especially if the playroom is quite big. Don’t worry, area rugs don’t require a lot of work. If you need to replace them or roll them up so your child can play with roller skates or ride a wheel toy, they’re easy to put back.
Keeping your area rugs clean is much easier than keeping wall to wall carpet clean. When a spill happens, you can easily lift the rug to clean both sides. In a carpet the stain will disappear but some of it will seep into the pad and stay there only to reappear in time. Put an old towel under the area rug when spot cleaning and the spill is completely removed.
There are area rugs especially made for children with lots of designs. Depending on the theme of your choice, you can have rugs full of animal images, numbers, shapes, nature, cartoon characters and more. Your child will have an awesome time looking at the fun rugs in the playroom.
