Roman shades are some of the most commonly used window treatments in America, and for good reason. Along with being elegant, they are also very reasonably priced and can take a boring and bland room to a beautiful room in just a few short minutes. This guide will show you the easy and quick way to install Roman shades in your home all by yourself by using just a few simple tools.

The first step you should take before you even purchase your Roman shade is to measure the window you are installing the shade in. Now, depending on whether you are installing an inside mount shade or an outside mount shade, you may need two different sets of measurements.

For inside mount Roman shades, you’ll need to measure from inside corner to inside corner, both going across the top of the window and also across the bottom of the window. Be sure to write down both measurements for later use. When purchasing your shades, you will want to be sure to use the narrower of the two measurements to ensure proper fit.

For outside mount Roman shades, you have a little more leeway in your shade’s measurement. To get the proper measurement, measure from the outside top corner of one end of your window frame and measure to the opposite outside corner of the other end. This measurement will be your maximum shade width.

For your second measurement, measure from inside corner to inside corner along the top of your window frame. This measurement will be your minimum shade width. Ideally, the shade’s width you purchase will fall somewhere between the two measurements you took and will give you ideal fit for your new Roman shade.

After you’ve decided on inside mount or outside mount Roman shades, and you’ve purchased the correct sized shade for your window, now it’s time to install your shade. The first thing you will need to do is to remove any existing window treatment hardware that is left over from your old blinds or shades. This will ensure that your new Roman shades will be able to operate correctly after you install them. If you do not have existing hardware, you can skip this step.

Next, you’ll want to remove your new shade and hardware from its packaging and lay it out on a clean workspace. To familiarize yourself completely with your shade’s installation process, be sure to read any printed installation materials that may have been provided to you by the manufacturer.

Now before you continue, you will need some small tools to install your new shade. You will need a tape measure and a screw driver (or cordless drill, if you have one); now’s a great time to make those tools readily available.

Now to the installation: The first step is to take your shade and hold it up to your window frame and position it where you would like it to be installed. Next, with a pencil, make a mark about 2 ½” to 3″ in from each edge of your blind – this is where your mounting hardware will be installed.

Now, with your screwdriver or cordless drill, line your mounting hardware up with the pencil lines you just made and use the provided screws to anchor down the mounting hardware tight to your window frame. When that is complete, simply lift your Roman shade up to the mounting hardware and slide the mounting brackets into the correct slots on the shade – you may hear a click on some shades if done correctly.

The final step is to test your shades. Simply grab the raising and lowering cord on your shade and gently lower your shade until it reaches the bottom of your window. If it looks good and is properly aligned – congratulations, you’re finished! If it is not properly aligned, or looks crooked, remove the shade from the mounting hardware and readjust until your shade is in correct alignment.

Installing Roman shades in your home can sound like a daunting task, but don’t stress, it is a lot easier than it seems. With just a few simple tools and some patience, you can have beautiful Roman shades adorning any room in your home today!

Before you waste time and money by purchasing the wrong roman shades, be sure to visit http://www.romanshadesshop.com for excellent, in-depth buyer’s guides that will help you make the best possible buying decision.

Kids room decorating is an opportunity waiting to come to life! Nowhere else can you mix and match a variety of paint schemes along with creative stencils, stickers, sparkles and get away with it. Best of all, your kids can be involved in transforming their room into their own accomplishments while redecorating at the same time.

Some creative ideas on decorating kid’s bedrooms:

Furniture – Make a whole play area from an ordinary bookcase. Choose bright colors that match your child style and add features such as cutout doors for a doll house or castle effect. Add texture materials to one or two compartments that create a window or door like feature. When your child has out-grown the design, you can easily remove the materials and doors and replace them with the original materials that you saved. Other ideas can be used with Lego or large building blocks to create more designs to match your child’s age.

Walls – Turn your kid’s walls in a big canvas. Paint is the perfect solution and least expensive way to create a kaleidoscope impact while offering unlimited color options. Just changing one wall or adding stripes, borders, sponge or stamping techniques can bring new life to an ordinary room. Use wavy or splat design patterns, or turn one wall into a mural effect. Choose a bright base and pick accent colors to achieve the best effects.

Ceiling – Create a magical night sky on your child’s ceiling with glow in the dark decorations. These can be fun and even comforting for your child to be able to lie in bed and gaze up at the night stars

Doors – Use wooden letters that spell your child’s name and glue them on the door. Painting them in the theme color of your child room will dress up the door nicely. Closet door hardware can be replaced with wiggly handles or their favorite cartoon character. By matching the door hardware with wall plates you can carry the pattern throughout the room that accents their style.

Shelves – Using shelving materials can be the least expensive way to pick up the clutter and organize a room. Painting with the same colors or add design features with stencil or stamping can quickly dress up any room. Different shelve designs can also be used to border a window that eliminate the need for expensive window treatments.

Accessories – Large cork boards can quickly turn a bare wall into a busy space. Cork boards also eliminate holes in walls from nails or tacks that later need to be repaired. Wooden picture frames can be painted to help accent the room. Fans blades can be reversed and painted with designs to add cool effects when in use and then can be reversed when it comes time to re-decorate.

Decorating your kid’s bedroom is a great way to give them a place they can call their own and you may just find your kid spending more time in there!

Romantic bedrooms are havens where you can put aside the stress and woes you have accumulated, and spend quality time with your partner. Given the stressful, hectic and fast-paced life that many working Singaporeans face, this is certainly something worth embracing. Your bedroom should have the right setting to sooth the raging beast in you after a day of hard work, and set the mood to a romantic and positive note.

Cleaning up of your bedroom could be first item on the list. Removing of clutter is just as important. A messy and cluttered room is undoubtedly a mood spoiler. Unnecessary items should find their way to the storeroom, or be stored neatly into the wardrobe or under the bed.

Hard and fast rules do not apply when it comes to dealing with the bedroom’s interior design. Different individuals are attracted to different designs, with each having their own notions of romance. One of the most important factors could be colours, Playing its’ part as a basic requirement for that romantic design. Some popular colours could be red, blue, or even purple. Yellow, when used in large amounts, can be overpowering, so use them carefully. Red represents romance, love and passion. However, a red hot coated bedroom can be overwhelming too. Hence, you should limit it to smaller amounts, or even through the use of some decorative furnishing. Calming blues, relaxing green and earth tones, are recommended.

The next area of emphasis will then be the bed. Be sure that the mattress suits your concept of comfort. As some individuals might require stronger support mattress for health reasons, do balance it with comfort as a enriching element to that romantic touch. Soft fluffy pillows and a well-matching, nicely textured bedspread should top it off nicely.

Lightings can also play a huge part in getting you and your partner into the mood. While many Singaporeans still prefer white lightings for practical reasons, there should also be wall or floor lamps that provide warm and softer lightings. Such alternative lightings will complement the chosen colour of the room.

Last but not least, how about some wall art for the room? Depending on individual tastes, scenic photography, funky drawings or abstract paintings can give a desired romantic touch! A well-taken picture of the two of you works well too.

A romantic bedroom may furnish the stage for lovey dovey couples or those seeking to relight the fire, however much of it rely upon your constant effort and state of mind. Keep your home free of problems and issues at work. Keep those financial worries away for the moment. Leave the sweat, dirt and grime in the bathroom. The bedroom is your sanctuary, enjoy it.

Featuring the most sought-after in designer furniture and the interior designer you can count on to complete your dream home.

Maybe your little man has grown out of the bears and Winnie the Pooh theme in his room. So what does he want next? Here are a few ideas!

Themes are great ways for parents and children to collaborate on mutual responsibility for a home. As a parent, you naturally have veto power over anything unsafe, too expensive or too garish. At the same time, it can be a joy to watch your son make some of his first choices as you and he create a room around your chosen theme.

Creating a unique room for your little boy to grow up in is a must. It will let him create who he is going to be and let his imagination run wild.

A Boy and His Pet: Does your little guy have a pet? Dog or cat, fish or bird, or even frogs and snakes that give Mom the creeps can serve as both image and color for a boy’s room. Start by choosing the color scheme, such as blue and deep gold if he keeps goldfish or shades of green for reptiles and amphibians. Next, take lots of photos of your son and his pet and hang them around the room. Put up posters of animals like your son’s pet. If he’s young enough, include some stuffed animals as well.

Serengeti Safari: Animal wallpaper borders and fabrics are a great place to start for a safari theme. Match the paint colors to the wallpaper and fabric designs, then add pillows in animal prints. Mount a straw hat and some play binoculars on a wall to give him his safari equipment. Frame some of his animal drawings and display them on the walls. Or get a disposable camera, go on a backyard safari together, and frame his animal photos.

Many children’s aren’t quite into the animals but more of just the outdoors. Maybe a log cabin is what your little man wants. So why not give him his own log cabin feel. By using a log or pine bed with a few different textures such as flannels and plaids you’ll have yourself one heck of an outdoors theme. A few pictures and decor of fish, bears, pine cones, and other nature like items will kick this room off to a great start.

If your little boy loves science in school and wants to create his own solar system you might wonder what to do. It is quite simple to create this idea. Use a few different solar systems if possible and hang them from the ceiling. Another great touch is those glow in the dark solar starts and planets which they sell. It will make him feel as if he’s sleeping under the stars when he goes to bed with all of them glowing.

Maybe you have an artist on your hands. Someone who loves to design and build objects. Why not create a room where you can make his room a village. Each wall can be a specific area of the town such as the general store or even the hardware store. It would be a great way to theme his room based on his surroundings which he loves so much.

If you know one boy you know them all. Many love cars. A car theme room is quite easy to decorate. Black and white checkered flags, car posters, and a shelf for his model cars is a great way to place all his wonderful toys on display. Add a great racetrack area rug in the middle of the floor and you are a go!

If you found this information about Home Design beneficial, then you are going to love these boys room area rugs.

If there’s a spare room in the house and you already have a guestroom, why not make the space into a playroom for your kid? Of course, your child’s bedroom should also be a place that’s safe, fun and conducive for your kid’s playtime, but having a separate room to play some more and store the toys (especially the bigger ones), other furniture and decorations can be an awesome treat to your little one. Playing will reach new heights and the fun…let’s just say will be magnified a hundred times more. Your kid can even invite friends over for a play date.

Of course the first thing that might spring to your mind when you start considering creating a play space is toys. Before you get started there however, you are going to need some storage for them. You don’t want to have all the toys out on view all the time. If there are too many things for the child to choose from, he or she will be over stimulated or have trouble focusing on any particular activity. It is always best to keep the decor simple. So keep most of the toys stored in an attractively painted cupboard or chest, and just bring out a few at a time.

Liven up the walls with some pictures. These don’t have to be expensive, just some posters, or pictures from magazines, and of course the child’s own art work, are perfect. You might also want to add a bought frieze or stickers, and perhaps something with the alphabet on it, just for an educational touch! Don’t forget the ceiling, especially if it’s a bedroom, because a nice idea is to add some glow-in-the-dark stickers, maybe of stars and moons.

Keeping in mind that your toddler is going to be spending a lot of time playing on the floor, an area rug would be a splendid idea. There are lots of different children’s designs of rugs available on the market these days. Some of these rugs can even add to the play experience, such as ones with roads on them that the child can drive toy cars around. Whatever the theme of the play area, you will be able to find a rug to suit; fairies, cars, animals, sport, teddy bears, pirates, and much more. You could even have your educational alphabet on a rug!

Floor decor – decorations are not only seen on eye level. The playroom’s floor can be enhanced by beautiful area rugs. Choosing colorful, thick rugs are ideal, especially that kids love to play on the floor and are prone to tripping and stumbling down. With an area rug as protection, the falls will be cushioned, as well as provide comfort for sitting on the floor while playing. There are rugs designed with children in mind, so you can also avail of this kind. If your kid loves animals, get an animal-themed rug. If he’s into cars and robots, there are also such designs, including rugs with numbers, alphabets and shapes that are great learning aids for your child.

If your kid loves to play dress up whether as a pirate or as a cartoon character, make it possible by allotting a storage for all the costumes and production knick-knacks. It can be a small cabinet or a big container like a treasure box where you can keep the clothes. In effect, also preventing clutter in the room.

Finally, your kid just like the other billions on earth would most likely prefer the floor over the chair. Children, especially at a younger age like to roll around, sit and lie down on the floor to play. Accessorize and have a floor covering at the same time by using an area rug. You can choose one big rug or place smaller area rugs in designated spots in the room, such as under the table and chairs, at the center of the playroom and by the cabinet. However, don’t miss placing one where your child sits and plays often. Buy area rugs that are made for children because they are more colorful, designed with children’s themes, thicker and non-toxic safe for children to use.

Your toddler at his young age will appreciate the beauty of his very own playroom by feeling ecstatic to be playing there. As he grows up, he will learn to notice the details and learn from them. Later on, you would have to redecorate to meet his requests and change in preferences. Nevertheless, decorating a playroom is uber fun that doing so a hundred times is not a problem. What do you think?

We spend a third of our life in our bedroom, it is the room we retire to at the end of the day for rest, relaxation and to recharge our internal batteries. Because of this it is very important that our bedroom promotes a sense of calm and that the energy supports us in getting a good night’s sleep.

How we decorate our bedroom and how we use, or in some cases abuse our bedroom can work against us and prevent us from getting the great night’s sleep our body and mind deserves. In this article I share with you the ten most common problems I come across with bedrooms and explain simple yet effective ways in which these problems can be overcome.

10 – Bookshelves in the bedroom

Having books in the bedroom and especially if you have lots of books on a bookshelf stimulates your mind and does not promote a restful nights sleep. The easiest, and I have to say the best cure, is to take the bookshelves out and place them in another part of the house. If this is impossible or impractical cover the shelves with either cupboard doors or fabric so that you cannot see the books when you go to bed at night.

9 – A Sleigh Bed

Sleigh style beds are becoming very common in the UK and I have to say they look very stylish in a bedroom. The problem with this style of bed however is that the head and the foot curve in which can give the impression of pressing down on the occupants of the bed. To cure this problem you need to lift the energy by placing something light above the bed, a crystal will work best or a stylish light fitting.

8 – Bed too low to the ground

If your bed is too low to the ground then energy cannot flow underneath effectively. Beds ideally should have plenty of space between the mattress and the floor. If it is not practical to put the mattress on a base, then you can place a red sheet or cloth the exact size of the bed underneath to stimulate chi

7 – Beams over the bed

Exposed beams above the bed cause problems in a number of ways. A beam lengthways down the bed can cause two people in a relationship to live separate lives as it has the impact of dividing the couple. If you are not in a relationship it can still be challenging as it has the effect of weighing down on a person causing problems and worries. A beam across the bed can cause illness in the part of the body that the beam crosses, so if it crosses the legs a person can find they have aches and pains in their knees or legs, crossing the chest can cause chest pains and breathing problems and if it crosses the head the person can suffer from headaches or migraines.

Covering the beam by putting in a false ceiling or taking the beam out altogether is th best solution although this is often not practical, and to be avoided if the beam is load bearing. There are however other solutions that can be more practical and which are just as effective.

Hanging two bamboo flutes from the ceiling above the bed so that they cross the beam making a shape like the bottom of an octagon has the benefit of drawing any negative energy upwards. Alternatively you can disguise the beam with drapes of fabric that are in the colours that correspond with the bagua area of the bedroom, so pinks and creams if your bedroom is in the relationship area, reds or turquoise if it is in the wealth area or shades of green if it is in the family area.

6 – Sloping Ceilings

Having a similar effect to beams, a sloping ceiling over the bed can make the occupants of the bed feel the weight of worries and problems as they sleep. In this instance it is best to hang a crystal above the bed, remembering to hang it from a piece of red ribbon or thread that is 9 inches in length

5 – Clutter under the bed

Clutter under the bed, whether this is in drawers under the bed or piled in boxes has the effect of blocking the natural flow of chi around and underneath the bed. There is only really one cure for this, take the boxes out and store them somewhere else.

4 – Mirrored Wardrobes

A lot of people seem to favour mirrored wardrobes but they can really disrupt the natural flow of energy and have a very destructive effect on a natural night’s sleep. If you really must have mirrored wardrobes try and find someway of covering them during the night, whether that be by placing a decorative screen in front of the wardrobes or by hanging some voile across the mirrors.

3 – Metal bed

A metal bed can disturb the flow of energy around the bed harming the restful effects of positive chi. If you have a metal bed, or even just a metal headboard you can minimise the negative effects of this by covering the metal with a soft sensual fabric, silk works best

2 – Ensuite bathroom

Ensuite bathrooms are now very common in most modern homes and it is very rare that I run a course where nobody has an ensuite bathroom in their bedroom. Bathrooms are not bad but can, if not carefully designed and decorated lead to the draining away of chi. Ensure that your bathroom is kept clear of clutter, that the toilet, sink, bath and shower are all clean and in good working order and ensure fresh towel, crystals and plants are in abundance. To strengthen positive chi in the bedroom even further always ensure you keep the bathroom door closed when sleeping

1 – TV or Computer in the bedroom

Without question, the most common problem I see with bedrooms is a TV or a computer in the room. This really is not to be advised but I accept that sometimes a bedroom has a multiple of uses. If you must have a TV or computer in your bedroom, house it in a cabinet or cover it with a cloth or a blanket when it is not in use. A TV is a conduit of fast flowing electrical energy and can harm sleeping patterns leading to a disturbed night’s sleep.

Floral bedroom themes are one of the most popular choices for girls of all ages. Learn how to create an inexpensive flower power teen bedroom decor theme with the seven easy ideas provided in this article to get you started.

Start your bedroom decor off right by placing a lovely faux wallpaper on one wall that you would like to be the focal point of the room.

There are many different faux wallpaper styles available today that give you the look of a time consuming faux painting technique while requiring less work and less expense. To really give your focal point some extra appeal, try placing large floral garden wall decals on your freshly papered focal point wall. If you are artistic, you could simply paint the focal point flowers and stems onto the wall using the colors of your choice.

Use a companion floral wallpaper border and a companion stripe wallpaper on the remaining walls of the room to tie the look together.

Try installing a small crisp stripe wallpaper on the remaining walls of your bedroom along with a coordinating wall border placed at the chair rail level to add visual appeal.

Select white woodwork, trim and furniture to accent your floral decorating theme.

Paint your existing woodwork, trim and furniture a crisp white to blend in with the floral theme room decor. You can pick up companion pieces of furniture at local garage sales and thrift stores and give them new life by adding a fresh coat of white paint. You want the floral theme to be dominant in the room decor, so the furniture and trim should be color neutral.

Choose a comforter set in a coordinating shade that matches your wall decor.

You will want the fabric to be a solid or small print so that it doesn’t compete with the look of the room and become too distracting from the overall theme. For a sweet look, add small polka dot sheets and throw pillows for contrast. A white throw blanket makes a lovely accent for the bottom of the bed.

Use brightly colored roman or balloon shades as your window treatments.

Select a fabric that coordinates well with your bedding selection and have roman or balloon window treatments custom made to match your room decor. By selecting a fabric that coordinates well with your bedding, you will brighten up the look of the room. The window treatments will provide visual interest against the crisp white woodwork.

Accent the room with a large white faux fur rug.

Faux fur throw rugs can be purchased online or at your local discount department stores for next to nothing. This type of rug will bring added texture to the room and will keep your child’s feet warm when she steps out of bed each morning.

Add plain white wooden lamps next to the bed.

Accent the lamp shades with floral accents or ric rac to make them a bit more visually appealing. This will make a simple but elegant statement.

Any of these seven ideas, or all of them, would be great additions to creating a stunning flower power teen bedroom that your child will love for years to come.

For a teen aged girl, her bedroom is her personal sanctuary. A place where she can be herself, a place where she can pursue her varied interests and hobbies. Naturally, when it comes to her bedroom decor, she will want you to incorporate all those things in it which reflect her personality. So, if you are a parent who has taken upon yourself the task of interior designing your girl’s bedroom, given below are some interesting tips on bedroom designs for teenage girls, which you will surely find handy.

Cool Bedroom Designs for Teenage Girls

Theme
Bedroom designs for teenagers should be in accordance to their taste. So, ask your girl what theme she would want her bedroom décor to revolve around. For example, if your girl loves retro music, you can keep that as a theme and then decide on the other things such as wall colors, furniture and accessories accordingly. You can also choose from the popular girls bedroom decor themes such as princess, ballerina, superheroes, ocean, cartoon, vehicle, fairy, Alice in wonderland, etc.

Wall Colors
Appropriate wall colors are a must to bring out the beauty of the bedroom designs for girls. Some of the popular interior painting colors for a girl’s bedroom are pink, purple, sunshine yellow and all the pastel shades. While selecting paint colors, keep the size of the room in mind. If the room is small, go in for lighter shades as they make the room look bigger. However, if the room size is big, you can experiment with lots of bold, bright colors such as red, orange and fluorescent green. These bold room colors for girls will lend drama and glamor to the bedroom designs. For small rooms, you can paint one wall with these bright paint colors and keep the rest light. Painting various kinds of shapes and patterns on the walls such as geometric shapes, polka dots, stripes, etc is another interesting idea that you can consider.

Furniture
Bed is usually the focal point in most bedrooms, so choose one very carefully. A unique girls bedroom idea is to add a canopy or a sheer curtain to the bed. Besides the bed, some comfortable chairs and/or a small sofa is a must in a girl’s bedroom so that she can have a separate sitting area. You may add a few bean bags to this sitting area too. Some other bedroom furniture items which a girl’s bedroom should have are a study table, computer table-chair, side tables, dresser, closets and most importantly, a mirror.

Accessories
The choice of accessories can make or mar the look of any room. Adding accessories is one of the easiest ways to implement any of the bedroom designs ideas that you are planning. For a girl’s bedroom some of the most popular accessories are soft toys, paintings, family and friend photographs (a collage made from these pictures is a better idea), posters of the personalities she looks up to, flower vases, lampshades, fancy rugs and cabinets to store CDs and books. The accessories should be chosen in such a way that they compliment the bedroom designs for tweens. Add various kind of lighting to your girl’s bedroom such as ceiling lighting, accent lighting and task lighting to give the room a unique dimension.

Modern bedroom designs for teenage girls should be planned with a lot of storage space, to keep the things well organized. There should be under-bed storage, closet organizers and a chest of drawers where your girl can keep her shoes, clothes, books and other stuff properly. Remember to keep a separate space for laundry and a trash can. With these bedroom decorating ideas for girls you have the basics on how to go about your interior decoration project. Now, all you have to do is to sit with your daughter, brainstorm over the look that she wants in her room and start implementing it. Best of luck!

Is your bedroom too cramped up and you’re starting to feel that you’re running out of space? In a limited space, everything should be maximized. It is one of the most common problems we face when it comes to our homes. In our place of refuge, the bedroom, we must always feel comfortable in them. Small bedroom spaces will make us feel confined. It won’t allow us to set our minds free and relax.

Good thing, you can utilize these designer tips to make your small bedroom space look bigger!

Light it up.

The general concept in making spaces look bigger is to allowing more light to enter your room. If you have the opportunity to let light pass through such as long window panes, flaunt it. You can use sheer curtains or tie curtains up to ensure that enough light will get in. It would make the space more relaxing to see the outdoors. If it’s unsightly, you can use potted plots to improve that look from the inside.

Clean furniture.

Use furniture with clean lines. If your space is too small, smaller furniture will match available space. You can use a chair that has exposed legs so you can see the floor. It will create an illusion of bigger space if you have a better view of your floor. Too much furniture inside your room is not advisable. Make sure to use furniture that’s fully functional or multipurpose. Moreover, it would help you get a cohesive look on your bedroom if you start your design with a focal point. In a bedroom, the bed is your biggest piece of furniture, thus, it will serve as your point of attraction.

Pastel-colored paint.

Going back to the general concept, pastel colors will invite and reflect more light. Painting your bedroom with bright but relaxing colors will make it look more spacious. Otherwise, painting your walls with darker colors will make it look smaller and constricted. You can still use darker colors in outlining the walls’ borders and trims. This will instead give more definition to it.

Mirrors.

They are one of the most popular solutions to making your room look bigger. It will reflect the available light you have. Letting the light bounce off will again create an illusion of a more spacious room. Thus, going back to furniture, you can use drawers which has mirrors. You can also make use of framed prints but never overdo them.

Added light source.

Although you would want to maximize your natural light source but it isn’t always possible to have enough light from the outside. It would be wise to make use of other added light source such as lamps. This will create an artificial source of light still making your bedroom feel airy. You can add more as you wish. Making it fully-lighted, will make the room more inviting especially after a hard day at work.

With these simple steps you will be able to make your room look bigger. You can work at, bits and pieces to your design but don’t exaggerate.

In moving your furniture around, contact a furniture assembler from American Direct Logistics to help you with needs and ensure safety at the same time. American Direct Logistics assembles in 30 minutes and offers a 30 day warranty on assembly services.

Want a quick and easy way to spend some quality time with your kids that they won’t refuse? Try redecorating your child’s bedroom. We all know how quickly kids grow it is just amazing to watch it seems like they make big changes almost every day. Well, since they do grow and change so quickly always learning new things they room should also change. Don’t worry it doesn’t have to be redecorated every day or anything but by frequently updating your child’s room decor you get to spend some quality time with your child as well as keep their bedroom environment stimulating and fun to them. This will lead to them being happier and even better adjusted. It does not have to cost a lot of money or even take a huge amount of time.

Set Your Budget The very first thing that you should do before going out to any store or buying even the first piece of furniture or a pillow is to sit down yourself and decide your budget. If you are working with your teen in tandem then you will want to figure out the budget yourself first and then let them know. Helping your child learn to work with in a budget is a great life skill to teach as you work on decorating the bedroom.

Choose Your Theme: A theme will help tie everything together in the room and it will help guide you as you go out shopping. It makes it much easier to make important decisions about which piece make it into the room and which ones won’t fit. Choosing a theme can easily be done by talking with your child and identifying with them things they like and don’t like. It is helpful to build the theme around something they are really excited about and enjoy. This might be a sport, colors, or other activity they enjoy. Once you have some general ideas it can be very helpful to look through the library at design books, search on the internet for ideas and also visit some model houses.

Think Storage: That’s right it is super important to plan for your storage needs int he room before even going out to buy a piece of furniture. Take a quick assessment of the room and what objects your child needs and make a rough idea of how you might store them. Storage is crucial to keeping things neat and tidy in the room and it is the only way to really have a neat organized thematic room that people will enjoy. Once you have some ideas for your storage needs look for ways to incorporate the storage into the theme.

Don’t forget to plan ahead some of your ideas for paint and art in the room. Painting the room can be a big step but also an important one to really convey the theme and look you are going for. It does not have to mean painting the whole room often a focus wall and a few well chosen posters or wall art pieces can tie a room together perfectly. If you are not willing to get into painting as it can be a big step and somewhat time consuming an alternative option is to look into wall art and wall stickers. You can easily find some big piece of art work or even make your own to tie into the theme. Also large over-sized wall stickers have recently been a very popular option and there are many available online.

By working with your child setting a clear budget and doing lots of looking first you can easily decorate your child’s bedroom. It does not have to be expensive some simple wall stickers or a new cabinet and rearrange the furniture in the room as well as adding a few throw pillows or new bed covers can easily make the room look brand new.
